Use Locate XBRL in Wdesk to find where concepts, dates, or units are used in your document.

Locating XBRL

Locating Concepts

There are two ways to locate a concept in your document -- through Locate XBRL and from the XBRL outline.

Use Locate XBRL

Locate XBRL lets you find where any concept is used in your document, including deprecated and new concepts.

  1. Open your document, click Show XBRL, and select an XBRL profile if one is not already selected.

  2. Click the binoculars on the right navigation panel to open Locate XBRL.

  3. Click Concepts. A full list of concepts used in your document appears.

  4. Enter the concept name in the search field to find a specific concept and press Enter to update the list of results.

  5. Use the filter options to narrow the results:

    • Concept Type
    • Period
    • Data Type
    • Section
    • Deprecated
    • New
  6. Click a result to jump to that location in the document.

  7. To clear results, remove text from the search field and click Clear in the filter options.

Use Locate from the XBRL Outline

  1. Right-click the concept in the XBRL outline

  2. Click Locate Concept.

Locating Dates

Locate XBRL lets you find where any date or date range is used in your document.

  1. Open your document, click Show XBRL, and select an XBRL profile if one is not already selected.

  2. Click the binoculars on the right navigation panel to open Locate XBRL.

  3. Click Dates.

  4. Select a date in the search field to find that specific date or that date within a date range and press Enter to update the list of results.

    For example, if you search for September 30, 2017, the list of results will include both the individual date and any date ranges that include that date.

  5. Use the Type and Period filter options to narrow the results.

  6. Click a result to jump to that location in the document.

  7. To clear results, remove dates in the search field and set all filters to ALL.

Locating Units

Locate XBRL lets you find where any unit is used in your document. While you can enter a unit name (such as USD) in the search field show only those units, we provide steps on how to filter them to make finding a specific unit easier.

  1. Open your document, click Show XBRL, and select an XBRL profile if one is not already selected.

  2. Click the binoculars on the right navigation panel to open Locate XBRL.

  3. Click Units to show all units in your document.

  4. Use the Type and Source filter options to narrow the results.

  5. Click a result to jump to that location in the document.

  6. To clear results, remove text in the search field and set all filters to ALL.
