Changing Dashes to Zeros

Here’s how to change your dashes to zeros for monetary values.

Changing Dashes to Zeros

CIPC now requires that zero values reported in the printing section of the annual financial statements that will have XBRL tags on them are reported as zero (0).

To update your document:

  1. Go to the table with dashes and select all monetary values.

  2. Right-click and select Format Cells.

  3. In the Values tab, click Advanced.

  4. Uncheck Use dashes for zeros.

  5. Verify that Symbol Placement in Advanced is set to decimals, not commas. Commas are not accepted by CIPC. If this needs to be changed, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for assistance.

  6. Click OK.
