Tables can be created by uploading a .csv or through an integration with an external system. This article will cover creating tables via .csv upload. Uploaded files must meet the following requirements:
- File type must be .csv
- Max file size of 200 MB
- Number fields must be plain text, no formatting/no dashes (e.g. 9999.99 and 0 instead of (9,999.99) and "-")
- Date format must be consistent throughout the file (e.g. yyyy-MM-dd)
Creating a Table
To create a new Table, click Create and select Table. You’ll be taken to the Create New Table page to set up your table’s structure.
On the Create New Table screen, give your table a name, description, and type. After entering this information, click Browse to select the file to upload.
After uploading, you can view and edit column names, descriptions, and type in the Column Information section. Editing a column name changes the column header show in report results, but the source column ID will not change from the header found in the uploaded file.
Any unneeded columns can be removed by selecting Ignore column. This will also ignore the column on all further data uploads.
The column type controls what type of data a column can contain and how it can be interacted with when composing reports. When using the timestamp type, the format used must match the format of the data in the uploaded file.
Once all the columns are set up, data tags can be applied to the initial dataset being uploaded. Use data tags to add metadata to each record within the dataset. The tags can then be incorporated into Reports. You can manage your data tags in your settings.
Once you’re finished setting up your table, click Create new table to finish. The new table will appear on the Tables tab where they are organized by Dimension Tables or Data Tables. You can edit your table in the Properties option.
