Creating Tables

Create tables by uploading a .CSV or through an API integration with an external system. This article covers how to create tables by uploading a .CSV files.

File Requirements

Files must meet the following requirements:

  • File type must be .CSV
  • Number fields must be plain text, no formatting/no dashes (e.g. 9999.99 and 0 instead of (9,999.99) and "-")
  • Date format must be consistent throughout the file (e.g. yyyy-MM-dd)
  • Max file size of 200 MB

Creating a Table

To create a new table:

  1. Click Create and select Table.

  2. Enter a table name, description, and type.

  3. Select the file to upload by clicking Browse.

  4. View and edit column names, descriptions, and type in the Column Information section.

    NOTE: Editing a column name changes how the column header displays in report results, but the source column ID doesn't change from the header found in the uploaded file.

  5. Remove any unneeded columns by selecting Ignore Column. This ignores the column on all future uploads.

  6. Apply any needed data tags to the dataset.

    Use data tags to add metadata to records within the dataset, which can then be incorporated into Reports. Manage data tags in Prep Settings.

  7. Click Create Table to finish.

Viewing Tables

After you've created your table, you can view update table details. Tables appear on the Tables tab and are organized by Dimension, Data, or Shared Tables.
