Update Filing Documents

next generation

Source documents in your filing become out of date when there are any changes to their text, values, or XBRL, or when there is newly generated XBRL. Wdesk automatically looks for changes in source documents when you first add them to a filing, any time you click Back or Next as you move through a filing, and any time you reopen an existing filing.

When Wdesk finds changes in source documents, it lets you know you need to take action through Filing Health notices and warning icons for the affected documents on the Collect step.

How Documents Become Out of Date

Wdesk detects out of date documents when there are:

  • Newly generated XBRL revisions available

  • Changes to XBRL in a document, including changing concepts, dates, units, etc.

  • Changes to the document or XBRL outlines

  • Changes to document content, including text, values, and links

Updating XBRL Documents

XBRL source documents are out of date when there are changes to either text, values, or facts (concepts, dates, units, accuracies, etc.) When Wdesk detects changes in an XBRL document, there is an Update button on the Collect step for that document.

To update XBRL documents and include the most current version of them in your filing, do the following:

  1. Click the Go to Source button on the Filing Health message or click Open Document from the document’s drop-down menu on the Collect step.

  2. In the document, go to the XBRL tab and click Generate XBRL.

  3. Go to the Collect step in the filing and click Update or Update All for multiple document updates.

  4. Review your filing to make sure all filing information is still correct, such as labels, form information, etc.

Regenerating EDGAR Documents

EDGAR documents become out of date when there are any content changes in them. When Wdesk detects changes in an EDGAR source document, there is a Regenerate button on the Collect step for that document.

  1. Go to the Collect step for your filing.

  2. If you want to view the EDGAR document, click the HTM file.

  3. Click Regenerate to include the most recent changes or click Update All for multiple document updates.

  4. Review your filing to make sure all filing information is still correct, such as labels, form information, etc.
