Wdesk is cloud-based, which means you can access your work from almost any device. This also means there's always one version of any document and it's always up to date. There's no switching back and forth between multiple versions stored on local
devices, and you can collaborate with colleagues in a way that's controlled and transparent. In a nutshell, your documents in Wdesk are safe, up-to-date, and as accessible as you want them to be.
When you sign in, you'll land in Wdesk Home—the home base for all your documents, files, and activities. If this is your first sign-in, you'll see a clean slate. You're in a view called My Recent and you haven't opened anything yet. Just select Files
from the left-hand panel to see all the documents you need.
If you don’t see any files in My Recent, select Files from the left-hand panel to see all the documents you need.
You'll notice there are different icons to the left of the file names. The most common are:
Documents, workbooks, and presentations are exactly as they sound, but you may be wondering about the difference between a project and a folder.
Projects are ideal for housing all documents or files you're working on simultaneously. For example, our SEC-filing customers use a project to organize everything related to a particular filing. Folders work best when organizing around a theme,
such as all quarterly management reports or executive briefings.

Search is the quickest way to find something if you know the name, or part of the name of the file you’re looking for.
If you have lots of files, you may want to sort alphabetically, by file type, or by date modified.
In the left-hand navigation panel you will find My Recent, Files and Projects. My Recent brings up what you've worked on most recently, Files shows everything you have access to in your account, and Projects shows only project files.
Depending on what type of seat license you have, you may also see the option to create a new file or project. Your first set of files will be there when you log in, but you can create new ones from Home as needed (if your seat license allows).
The other elements of the left-hand panel relate to workflow tools and statuses, which we'll explain more about in other modules. For now, just make a mental note that those too are all accessible from Home.
When performing a search, it’s best to search by file name, file type or a combination of both. Searching by a phrase that’s close but not exact is not recommended.
