A PDF document may be created of an entire project or of any combination of documents within a project. The PDF can then be saved or printed.
NOTE: You may need to disable pop-up or ad blockers for PDFs to display in a separate browser tab.
Save a Project as PDF
To do this, select a project from the Projects panel and select the PDF icon from the top of the documents tab. This will open the PDF Options dialog box.
Select the options desired for the PDF and select the documents to be included in the PDF file from the list. By default, the list includes all documents from the selected project. NOTE: Workbooks will not be included in the PDF even if they are selected from the list.
Show Comments will display comments based on any filter in effect at the time of the export. If you do not have a comments filter on, it will only display open comments in the PDF export. To display closed comments in a PDF, turn on the comments filter and select All.
Show Tracked Changes will display any outstanding tracked changes. If you have unresolved track changes (waiting to be Accepted or Rejected) you will not be able to PDF to a project.
Create Publish Ready PDF generates a PDF suitable for traditional printing. You can include the following options:
The order of the documents can be changed using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
Save a Document as PDF
For printing and review, Wdesk allows you to export your document to an Adobe PDF file as well as saving the PDF to a project for filing.
To export your document to a PDF file, open the document and from the File tab, select Save As > PDF. If you have a large document, it is recommended that you use PDF (Classic).
A dialog will display with multiple options:
Show Annotation Markup will display any annotations you have made in the document.
Show Comments will display comments based on any filter in effect at the time of the export. If you do not have a comment filter on, it will only display OPEN comments in the PDF export. To display closed comments in a PDF, turn on the Comments filter and select ALL.
Show Tracked Changes will display any outstanding tracked changes. If you have unresolved track changes (waiting to be Accepted or Rejected) you will NOT be able to PDF to a project.
Show SEC Revision (R-tag) Highlighting will display revision tags in the EDGAR HTML and ASCII documents to mark the areas that changed.
Create Publish Ready PDF creates a PDF suitable for traditional printing.
Include "Draft" Watermark will display the word "draft" as a watermark in your PDF, to indicate that the document is not the final version.
Include entire Document will include all sections in the document.
Include selected Section(s): allows you to select specific sections to include in the PDF.
If you select Include Selected Section(s), a dialog will display where you can choose the specific sections to export to PDF.
Click on the OK button. A status dialog will appear as the PDF is being generated. You may cancel the process by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner, or the Cancel button at the bottom of the dialog.
NOTE: The PDF generation will take longer for larger files.
When the PDF is generated, another dialog will display prompting you for the location to save the file. If you have unaccepted track changes in your document, you will be presented with the following dialog:
If you have no outstanding track changes in your document and you have not selected the Include Unaccepted Changes option from the previous dialog, you will be presented with a different dialog.
Save to Your Computer allows you to save the PDF file.
NOTE: If you modify the filename in the Save As dialog box on your computer, retain the .pdf filename extension.
Save to a Project allows you to save the generated PDF to an existing project if you want to submit a printable copy with your filing or simply keep a copy with your project.
Save a Section as PDF
To PDF by section, you may either access the File > Save As > PDF path, or simply right-click on a section and select the Save As PDF option.
You will be presented with the same PDF Options dialog box with the Include Selected Section(s) option open. From here, you can select one or many sections to include in your PDF.
Save a Revision as PDF
To output a revision as a PDF, go to the History panel and choose the Actions drop-down menu for the revision you wish to convert.
When the revision is open in Wdesk, you'll see the revision number in parentheses in the document title. From this point, you can choose File > Save As and then PDF. Now you can use the PDF Options dialog box as with documents and sections.
