Using Headers and Footers

next generation

You can create a variety of headers and footers to display important information about your document. Headers appear above the gray dashed line at the top of your document, while footers appear below the dashed line at the bottom of the page.

Creating a Header or Footer

To create a header or footer:

1
Click in the header or footer region.
2
Type in your desired text. You can format and align the text using the options in the Edit toolbar.

The new header or footer appears on each page in that section of the document. To add the header or footer to subsequent sections, use the Inherit from previous section option in the Properties panel.

Setting Header Properties

Using the Header Properties menu, you can reuse headers across sections or create different headers within the same section.

  • Inherit from previous section: The selected section uses the same header as the previous section.
  • Alternating pages: Odd-numbered pages use one header, while even-numbered pages use a different header.
  • Different first page: The first page of the section uses a different header than following pages. If alternating headers are also applied, they begin after the first page of the section.
  • Different last page: The last page of the section uses a different header than previous pages. If alternating headers are also applied, they end before the last page of the section.

Adjusting Header and Footer Size
