Some types of charts have additional settings to increase your design and display options.
Column and Bar Charts
On the Series tab, column and bar charts have a style option in the column section which controls the color of the column in the series you are formatting. You can also change the color of individual columns under Single Column Settings.
To set border width and color for columns, go to the Main tab in the charts panel. Check the Column Borders option under Basic Settings. You can click the arrow next to Advanced on the Main tab to display a menu that allows you to control Column Width (in percentage), Column Overlap, and the Vertical versus Horizontal options for series data.
On the Series tab, combo charts have a drop-down box that will change how a series is displayed. Choose the series you are formatting in the top Title box, then choose whether you want it to be displayed as a line or column. After selecting the Series Type, the appropriate Style options will appear.
Line, Bar, Column, and Scatter Charts
Also on the Series tab for line, bar, column, and scatter charts, you can adjust individual settings for data points. In the Single Point Settings, select the data point in the top drop-down box. There is a checkbox to display or hide the label in the chart, as well as a Position drop-down box to choose where a label is displayed in relation to the data point. Settings are chosen for each data point separately.
Pie and Doughnut Charts
Pie and doughnut charts don't have a Series tab, because they display data in Slices instead of a Series. If you choose a pie chart from the Main tab, a Slices tab will appear at the bottom. Under this tab, you can select each Slice from the top drop-down box, then choose which color to make it from the Slice Color box.
You can also choose whether to display the label for the Slice by checking or unchecking the Show Label box. The placement of labels can be adjusted so that they are directly on the chart or at varying distances from the chart and the leader line length will automatically adjust as well. The width of the labels themselves can be controlled from the chart panel, as well as the line color and width. To learn more, read the Labels for Pie and Doughnut Charts section of the article Chart Labels.
The label fonts for slices in pie and doughnut charts can be set individually. You can also adjust the diameter of your pie chart in relation to the overall size of the chart, decreasing unwanted white space. Doughnut charts have an inner radius box on the Main tab to increase or decrease the size of the doughnut's "hole." You can increase/decrease the size of the hole from 10% up to 90%.
Watch the above video to see how to create and format waterfall charts for your document.
Waterfall charts include the option to change the color of columns representing Positive Change and Negative Change, as well as changing Column Types so that either Total value or Change is represented.
You can change the shape and size of points for bubble charts. In addition to x and y axis points, add an additional column to your data table to set bubble size. Changing the range will then scale bubble sizes up and down as desired.
